know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day in a new school, so it’s understandable if you’re a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now -- (applause) -- with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade you’re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you could’ve stayed in bed just a little bit longer this morning.

I get it. I know what it’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work and who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us the things that other kids had. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.

Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all young people deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, by the way, I hope all of you are washing your hands a lot, and that you stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s why I succeed.”

If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.

我剛才在門口聽，一聽説要演講，我就比較怕。我想跟大家講，作為一個創業者，首先要給自己一個夢想。在95年我偶然有一次機會到了美國，然後我看見了，發現了互聯網。發現互聯網以後，我不是一個技術人才，我對技術幾乎是不懂，到目前為止，我對電腦的認識還是部分停留在收發郵件和瀏覽頁面上，我今天早上還在説，到現在為止我還搞不清楚該怎麼樣在電腦上用U盤。但是這並不重要，重要的是你到底夢想想幹嘛。
95年我發現互聯網有一天它會改變人類，可以影響人類的方方面面，但是誰可以把它改變掉，它到底該怎麼樣影響人類?這些問題我在95年沒有想象清楚，但是隱隱約約感覺到這是將來我想幹的。所以回來以後也非常的艱難，我請了24個朋友到我家裏，大家坐在一起，我説我準備從大學裏辭職，要做一個互聯網，叫Internet，那個時候互聯網不叫互聯網，那個時候把它翻譯成因特耐特，因為自己不懂技術，所以我花了將近兩個小時來説服24個人説，這是一個很有意思的事情。兩個小時以內，我肯定沒講清楚，什麼是互聯網，他們肯定也聽得糊里糊塗。兩個小時以後，大家投票表決，23個人反對，一個人支持，大家覺得這個東西肯定不靠譜，別去做那個，你電腦也不懂，而且根本不存在有這麼一個網絡。但是我經過一個晚上想了，第二天早上我決定我還是辭職去實現我自己的夢想。為什麼是這樣呢?我發現今天我回過來想，我看見很多遊學的年輕人是晚上想千條路，早上起來走原路。晚上出門之前説明天我將幹這個事，第二天早上仍舊走自己原來的路線。如果你不去採取行動，不給自己夢想一個實踐的機會，你永遠沒有機會。所以我稀裏糊塗走上了創業之路。

有了一個理想以後，我覺得最重要是給自己一個承諾，承諾自己要把這件事做出來。很多創業者都想想這個條件不夠，那個條件沒有，這個條件也不具備，該怎麼辦?我覺得創業者最重要的是創造條件。如果機會都成熟的話，一定輪不到我們。所以一般大家都覺得這是好機會，一般大家覺得機會成熟的時候，我覺得往往不是你的機會，你堅信這事情能夠起來的時候，給自己一個承諾説我準備幹五年，我準備幹十年，幹二十年，把它幹出來。我相信你就會走得很久。我在一次跟創業者交流過程中，我説創業者的激情很重要，但是短暫的激情是沒有用的，長久的激情才是有用的。一個人的激情也沒有用，很多人的激情非常有用。如果你自己很激情，但是你的團隊沒有激情，那一點用都沒有，怎麼讓你的團隊跟你一樣充滿激情面對未來面對挑戰，是極其關鍵的事情。另外一個事，我説創業者給自己的承諾，自己給自己的承諾。
在互聯網最冷的冬天，20xx年、20xx 年的時候，我自己説從95年以來開始創業，我已經有六年苦了，六年以來碌碌無為犯了那麼多錯誤，反正我也沒辦法，後面六年繼續幹下去。再吃六年苦，甚至十六年苦，一定把它做出來為止。在這兒我想跟大家分享一個堅持、夢想或者是信任、堅信的一個案例。
阿里巴巴上市一個月以後，我把我們公司超過五年以上的員工，也有這麼大一羣人，坐在一起，我問大家一個問題，我們現在上市了，有錢了，可以説是相當有錢了，但是我問大家憑什麼我們今天有錢，是因為我們比別人聰明嗎?我看未必，至少我認為我是不聰明。從國小到大學，我很少考進前五名，當然我也沒跌破過十五名以後，我沒有覺得我聰明，因為很多人考數學，考什麼都比我行。你覺得我們比人家勤奮?我看這世界上比我們勤奮得人非常之多，比我們能幹的人也非常之多。但為什麼我們成功了，他們沒有成功，在我看來，我500多名同事、五六百名經過五年以上的員工，絕大部分員工的智商都比我多，因為七八年以前阿里巴巴沒有名氣，我們沒有品牌，沒有現金，人們也不一定相信電子商務，那個時候非常難招聘員工，同時非常難招進來，我們開玩笑説街上只要會走路的人，不是太殘疾，我們都招回來了。
但是經過了五六年，我們這些人居然都很有錢，大家都有成就感，為什麼?我覺得就是因為我們相信我們是平凡的人，我們相信我們一起在做一些事情，那個時候認為很能幹的人，相當出色的人，全部離開了我們，因為有獵頭公司把他們請走了，有些人想説我不同意這個觀點，我不認為互聯網，或者不同意這樣的方式方法，他們走到另外一個公司做創業，那些反正也沒人挖，也不知道該哪兒去，閒着也是閒着，到其它公司也找不着工作，就待下去，一待待了七八年，今天都成功了。事實上也是這樣，傻堅持要比不堅持要好很多。所以我覺得創業者給自己一個夢想，給自己一個承諾，給自己一份堅持，是極其關鍵的。
另外，我想創業者一定要想清楚兩個問題，第一，你想幹什麼，不是你父母讓你幹什麼，不是你同事讓你幹什麼，也不是因為別人在幹什麼，而是你自己到底想幹什麼。第二，你需要幹什麼，想清楚想幹什麼的時候，你要想清楚，我該幹什麼，而不是我能幹什麼。
創業之前很多人問，我有這個，我有這個，我能幹這個，我能幹這個，所以我一定比別人幹得好，我一直堅信，這個世界上比你能幹，比你有條件乾的人很多，但比你更想幹好這件事情，應該全世界只有你一個人，這樣你就有機會一點。所以想清楚你幹什麼，然後要想清楚該幹什麼，不該幹什麼。
在創業的過程中，四五年以內，我相信任何一家創業公司都會面臨很多的抉擇和機會，在每個抉擇和機會過程中，你是不是還是像第一天像自己初戀那樣記住自己的第一次的夢想，至關重要。在原則面前，在你能不能堅持，在誘惑面前能不能堅持原則，在壓力面前能不能堅持原則。最後想幹什麼，該幹什麼以後，再給自己説，我能幹多久，我想幹多久，這件事情該幹多久就做多久。
其實阿里巴巴做電子商務，這麼多年以來，九年以來我們經受各種各樣的批評、指責是非常之多，大家説中國不具備做電子商務，中國沒有誠信體系，沒有銀行支付體系，基礎建設也非常差，憑什麼你可以做電子商務，那你説我怎麼辦?等待機會?等待別人來，等待國家建好，等待競爭者進來。我覺得創業者如果沒有誠信體系，我們就創造一個誠信體系，如果沒有支付體系，我們建設支付體系，我們只有這個樣子，才有機會。所以我想，九年經歷告訴我，沒有條件的時候，只要你有夢想，只要你有良好的團隊堅定地執行，你是能夠走到大洋的那一岸。
當然，這九年以內，我今天覺得最感到驕傲的事情不是取得了什麼成績，不是説九年能活下來。我覺得最讓我感到自豪，最讓我能夠每次分享快樂，覺得跟我的同事最快樂的事情是，我們每一次碰上的災難，每一次碰上的挫折，每一次碰上的缺點。當然我今天不想在這兒吹什麼牛，我覺得我和絕大部分的這些災難、挫折碰上，我不知道是怎麼碰上，但是走出來，我也不知道是怎麼走出來的。很多人告訴你，當時是做了這樣這樣的準確的決定，正確的決定，讓你走出了困境。其實有的時候，運氣也很重要，但這些運氣怎麼會給你帶來的，是因為你的信念，是因為你給自己的承諾，給團隊的承諾。中國需要大批的創業者，我堅信，中國需要大批的中小型企業。解決中國13億人口巨大的就業問題一定是中小型企業。我不相信國有企業能解決全國13億人口的就業問題。所以需要大量中小型企業就需要大量的創業者。
創業者在記住夢想、承諾、堅持，該做什麼，不該做什麼，做多久以外，我希望創業者給自己承諾，給員工承諾，給社會承諾，給股東承諾，永遠讓你的員工、讓你的家人、讓你的股東可以睡得着覺，絕對不能做任何偷税，不能做任何危害社會的事情。所以只要這些東西在的話，我今天回去對我的家人，對我的員工，對我員工的家人，對我的股東永遠是坦蕩，我們犯錯誤，心裏也知道犯在哪裏。所以剛才講到我犯了很多的錯誤，現在外面有很多寫阿里巴巴如何成功、如何不錯的書，説實在，沒有一本書我看過，也沒有一本書是我自己寫，或者接受過採訪，我覺得將來我想寫一本阿里巴巴一千零一個錯誤。我們犯的錯誤非常之多，所以最後想跟所有創業者和準備創業的，還是我每天跟自己講的話，今天很殘酷，明天更殘酷，但後天很美好，絕大部分人死在明天晚上，所以我們必須每天努力面對今天。

know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day in a new school, so it’s understandable if you’re a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now -- (applause) -- with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade you’re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you could’ve stayed in bed just a little bit longer this morning.

That’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education.

I get it. I know what it’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work and who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us the things that other kids had. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.

Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn’t speak English when she first started school. Neither of her parents had gone to college. But she worked hard, earned good grades, and got a scholarship to Brown University -- is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to becoming Dr. Jazmin Perez.

That’s why today I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education -- and do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending some time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community. Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all young people deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, by the way, I hope all of you are washing your hands a lot, and that you stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star. Rowling’s -- who wrote Harry Potter -- her first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s why I succeed.”

These people succeeded because they understood that you can’t let your failures define you -- you have to let your failures teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time. So if you get into trouble, that doesn’t mean you’re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to act right. If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.

You definitely have to do a few drafts of a paper before it’s good enough to hand in.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. So find an adult that you trust -- a parent, a grandparent or teacher, a coach or a counselor -- and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals.

——馬雲演講：夢想與堅持
我剛才在門口聽，一聽説要演講，我就比較怕。我想跟大家講，作為一個創業者，首先要給自己一個夢想。在95年我偶然有一次機會到了美國，然後我看見了，發現了互聯網。發現互聯網以後，我不是一個技術人才，我對技術幾乎是不懂，到目前為止，我對電腦的認識還是部分停留在收發郵件和瀏覽頁面上，我今天早上還在説，到現在為止我還搞不清楚該怎麼樣在電腦上用U盤。但是這並不重要，重要的是你到底夢想想幹嘛。
95年我發現互聯網有一天它會改變人類，可以影響人類的方方面面，但是誰可以把它改變掉，它到底該怎麼樣影響人類?這些問題我在95年沒有想象清楚，但是隱隱約約感覺到這是將來我想幹的。所以回來以後也非常的艱難，我請了24個朋友到我家裏，大家坐在一起，我説我準備從大學裏辭職，要做一個互聯網，叫Internet，那個時候互聯網不叫互聯網，那個時候把它翻譯成因特耐特，因為自己不懂技術，所以我花了將近兩個小時來説服24個人説，這是一個很有意思的事情。兩個小時以內，我肯定沒講清楚，什麼是互聯網，他們肯定也聽得糊里糊塗。兩個小時以後，大家投票表決，23個人反對，一個人支持，大家覺得這個東西肯定不靠譜，別去做那個，你電腦也不懂，而且根本不存在有這麼一個網絡。但是我經過一個晚上想了，第二天早上我決定我還是辭職去實現我自己的夢想。為什麼是這樣呢?我發現今天我回過來想，我看見很多遊學的年輕人是晚上想千條路，早上起來走原路。晚上出門之前説明天我將幹這個事，第二天早上仍舊走自己原來的路線。如果你不去採取行動，不給自己夢想一個實踐的機會，你永遠沒有機會。所以我稀裏糊塗走上了創業之路。
我把自己稱為叫做一個盲人騎在一個瞎的老虎上面，所以根本不明白將來會怎麼樣，但是我堅信，我相信互聯網將會對人類社會有很大的貢獻。當時 95年不太有人相信互聯網，也不覺得有這麼個互聯網對人類有這麼大的貢獻，所以我用了比爾蓋茨的名字，那個時候我覺得互聯網將改變人類生活的方方面面，但是馬雲説，馬雲説互聯網將改變人類生活的方方面面，沒有人相信我。所以然後我説比爾蓋茨説互聯網將改變人類的方方面面。結果很多媒體就把這個事登了出來，但是這句話是我説的，95年比爾蓋茨還反對互聯網。
有了一個理想以後，我覺得最重要是給自己一個承諾，承諾自己要把這件事做出來。很多創業者都想想這個條件不夠，那個條件沒有，這個條件也不具備，該怎麼辦?我覺得創業者最重要的是創造條件。如果機會都成熟的話，一定輪不到我們。所以一般大家都覺得這是好機會，一般大家覺得機會成熟的時候，我覺得往往不是你的機會，你堅信這事情能夠起來的時候，給自己一個承諾説我準備幹五年，我準備幹十年，幹二十年，把它幹出來。我相信你就會走得很久。我在一次跟創業者交流過程中，我説創業者的激情很重要，但是短暫的激情是沒有用的，長久的激情才是有用的。一個人的激情也沒有用，很多人的激情非常有用。如果你自己很激情，但是你的團隊沒有激情，那一點用都沒有，怎麼讓你的團隊跟你一樣充滿激情面對未來面對挑戰，是極其關鍵的事情。另外一個事，我説創業者給自己的承諾，自己給自己的承諾。
在互聯網最冷的冬天，20xx年、20xx 年的時候，我自己説從95年以來開始創業，我已經有六年苦了，六年以來碌碌無為犯了那麼多錯誤，反正我也沒辦法，後面六年繼續幹下去。再吃六年苦，甚至十六年苦，一定把它做出來為止。在這兒我想跟大家分享一個堅持、夢想或者是信任、堅信的一個案例。
阿里巴巴上市一個月以後，我把我們公司超過五年以上的員工，也有這麼大一羣人，坐在一起，我問大家一個問題，我們現在上市了，有錢了，可以説是相當有錢了，但是我問大家憑什麼我們今天有錢，是因為我們比別人聰明嗎?我看未必，至少我認為我是不聰明。從國小到大學，我很少考進前五名，當然我也沒跌破過十五名以後，我沒有覺得我聰明，因為很多人考數學，考什麼都比我行。你覺得我們比人家勤奮?我看這世界上比我們勤奮得人非常之多，比我們能幹的人也非常之多。但為什麼我們成功了，他們沒有成功，在我看來，我500多名同事、五六百名經過五年以上的員工，絕大部分員工的智商都比我多，因為七八年以前阿里巴巴沒有名氣，我們沒有品牌，沒有現金，人們也不一定相信電子商務，那個時候非常難招聘員工，同時非常難招進來，我們開玩笑説街上只要會走路的人，不是太殘疾，我們都招回來了。
但是經過了五六年，我們這些人居然都很有錢，大家都有成就感，為什麼?我覺得就是因為我們相信我們是平凡的人，我們相信我們一起在做一些事情，那個時候認為很能幹的人，相當出色的人，全部離開了我們，因為有獵頭公司把他們請走了，有些人想説我不同意這個觀點，我不認為互聯網，或者不同意這樣的方式方法，他們走到另外一個公司做創業，那些反正也沒人挖，也不知道該哪兒去，閒着也是閒着，到其它公司也找不着工作，就待下去，一待待了七八年，今天都成功了。事實上也是這樣，傻堅持要比不堅持要好很多。所以我覺得創業者給自己一個夢想，給自己一個承諾，給自己一份堅持，是極其關鍵的。
另外，我想創業者一定要想清楚兩個問題，第一，你想幹什麼，不是你父母讓你幹什麼，不是你同事讓你幹什麼，也不是因為別人在幹什麼，而是你自己到底想幹什麼。第二，你需要幹什麼，想清楚想幹什麼的時候，你要想清楚，我該幹什麼，而不是我能幹什麼。
創業之前很多人問，我有這個，我有這個，我能幹這個，我能幹這個，所以我一定比別人幹得好，我一直堅信，這個世界上比你能幹，比你有條件乾的人很多，但比你更想幹好這件事情，應該全世界只有你一個人，這樣你就有機會一點。所以想清楚你幹什麼，然後要想清楚該幹什麼，不該幹什麼。
在創業的過程中，四五年以內，我相信任何一家創業公司都會面臨很多的抉擇和機會，在每個抉擇和機會過程中，你是不是還是像第一天像自己初戀那樣記住自己的第一次的夢想，至關重要。在原則面前，在你能不能堅持，在誘惑面前能不能堅持原則，在壓力面前能不能堅持原則。最後想幹什麼，該幹什麼以後，再給自己説，我能幹多久，我想幹多久，這件事情該幹多久就做多久。
其實阿里巴巴做電子商務，這麼多年以來，九年以來我們經受各種各樣的批評、指責是非常之多，大家説中國不具備做電子商務，中國沒有誠信體系，沒有銀行支付體系，基礎建設也非常差，憑什麼你可以做電子商務，那你説我怎麼辦?等待機會?等待別人來，等待國家建好，等待競爭者進來。我覺得創業者如果沒有誠信體系，我們就創造一個誠信體系，如果沒有支付體系，我們建設支付體系，我們只有這個樣子，才有機會。所以我想，九年經歷告訴我，沒有條件的時候，只要你有夢想，只要你有良好的團隊堅定地執行，你是能夠走到大洋的那一岸。
當然，這九年以內，我今天覺得最感到驕傲的事情不是取得了什麼成績，不是説九年能活下來。我覺得最讓我感到自豪，最讓我能夠每次分享快樂，覺得跟我的同事最快樂的事情是，我們每一次碰上的災難，每一次碰上的挫折，每一次碰上的缺點。當然我今天不想在這兒吹什麼牛，我覺得我和絕大部分的這些災難、挫折碰上，我不知道是怎麼碰上，但是走出來，我也不知道是怎麼走出來的。很多人告訴你，當時是做了這樣這樣的準確的決定，正確的決定，讓你走出了困境。其實有的時候，運氣也很重要，但這些運氣怎麼會給你帶來的，是因為你的信念，是因為你給自己的承諾，給團隊的承諾。中國需要大批的創業者，我堅信，中國需要大批的中小型企業。解決中國13億人口巨大的就業問題一定是中小型企業。我不相信國有企業能解決全國13億人口的就業問題。所以需要大量中小型企業就需要大量的創業者。
創業者在記住夢想、承諾、堅持，該做什麼，不該做什麼，做多久以外，我希望創業者給自己承諾，給員工承諾，給社會承諾，給股東承諾，永遠讓你的員工、讓你的家人、讓你的股東可以睡得着覺，絕對不能做任何偷税，不能做任何危害社會的事情。所以只要這些東西在的話，我今天回去對我的家人，對我的員工，對我員工的家人，對我的股東永遠是坦蕩，我們犯錯誤，心裏也知道犯在哪裏。所以剛才講到我犯了很多的錯誤，現在外面有很多寫阿里巴巴如何成功、如何不錯的書，説實在，沒有一本書我看過，也沒有一本書是我自己寫，或者接受過採訪，我覺得將來我想寫一本阿里巴巴一千零一個錯誤。我們犯的錯誤非常之多，所以最後想跟所有創業者和準備創業的，還是我每天跟自己講的話，今天很殘酷，明天更殘酷，但後天很美好，絕大部分人死在明天晚上，所以我們必須每天努力面對今天。
